bred today include Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. These states are
considered to have a good population of Osmanabadi goats. Suitable for stall
feeding, semi-stall feeding and open grazing farms, these goats can adapt to
different climatic conditions. Their rearing cost is lower as they can survive
on grass, fodder, shrubs, vegetables, kitchen waste, pulp of pulses and crop
waste. Moreover, they can be bred in harsh environments with low fertility
lands. The type of fodder you feed your animals does affect their productivity.

Colors of these
goats however vary, 80% of their coat is black and the rest 20 % may be white,
brown or spotted. Almost 85 percent of these goats are horned; the females may
be either horned or poled. At maturity, they can grow up to 68 cms. With a
chest girth of 70 cms, healthy Osmanabadi goats can weigh from 30 to 34 Kg.
